varroosis arrived in Madagascar in 2010!

A few months after the official declaration of varroosis to the OIE, the Ministry of Livestock has developed without consulting the Beekeepers an Emergency Response Plan that was developed in April 2011 by the Directorate of Veterinary Services (DSV) . The emergency plan calls for the destruction of the hive and colony to eradicate varroa the Malagasy territory. This plan was discussed with industry players and beekeepers Analamanga, Amoron’i Mania and Menabe for regional workshops reflections made by FENAM and Regional Veterinary Services in collaboration with DFS. The majority did not accept that the action taken by the authority refused categorically. some beekeepers have hidden their hives. But others, in the hope of being able to completely eradicate varroosis Madagascar sacrificed and burned their hives.
